Disgraced wellness blogger Belle Gibson has reportedly been taken to court over allegations she failed to donate promised funds to charity.
Consumer Affairs Victoria asked the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court yesterday to order Ms Gibson to answer a number of questions, including about her allegedly faked brain cancer, the Herald Sun has reported.
“Ms Gibson markets wellness products, a cookbook and an app on the basis that she is a cancer survivor,” Consumer Affairs Victoria’s Blair Ussher reportedly told the court.
“She was marketing the goods on the basis that a certain percentage of the price would go to charities.”
Magistrate Michael Smith gave Ms Gibson until July 9 to answer CAV’s questions, despite her lawyer arguing an extension was necessary given the complexity of the queries.
